It was a record year for the 2007 Huron County Heart Walk.
Unofficial numbers placed this year’s total at $44,000, breaking last year’s mark by $1,000.
But more than the money, organizer Christine Cook of the American Heart Association Toledo office said bringing everybody together for a cause is what is important.
“We’ve gotten tremendous support from the community,” Cook said. “I came aboard about 2 1/2 months ago and everybody jumped in to help out.”
This was Cook’s sixth heart walk she’s organized this year.
“The support from the towns the size of Norwalk is unbelievable,” she said. “The help from all of the chairmen has been great.”
Schild’s IGA, in honor of former employee Bob Lieber, built a 61-foot sub sandwich and donated all of the proceeds to the event.
