A Norwalk man currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail in connection with assaulting Norwalk Police Sgt. Thomas Cook.
Tod E. Ganzhorn, 42, of 520 Milan Ave., Lot 18, is accused of raising his hands aggressively and yelling at Cook when the officer arrived at a North Pleasant Street home about 8 p.m. Thursday, Norwalk Law Director Jim Conway said.
The complainant earlier had accused Ganzhorn, who appeared to be intoxicated, of punching holes in walls.
"When the officer approached him, he was hostile," Conway said. "In essence, he yelled at him.
"When the fight was still going on, Officer (Ty) Keefer arrived. Then, the two were able to subdue him."
Cook sustained abrasions on his knees, but declined to go to the hospital.
Ganzhorn was charged with assaulting a police officer, a fourth-degree felony. If convicted, he faces six to 18 months in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000.
The suspect is awaiting a Norwalk Municipal Court bond hearing.
