HURON Erie County sheriff's deputies are searching for a 17-year-old Norwalk boy who fled the scene of a Huron-Avery Road underage drinking party early Thursday morning.

The Manahan Avenue resident told a deputy he had paperwork for him related to a July 6 assault, Capt. Paul Sigsworth said. The incident, in which the boy was the victim, happened at the same Huron address.

"Deputies are following up with that," Sigsworth said.

When the Norwalk boy didn't come out of the house in a timely fashion Thursday, two deputies searched the residence, but didn't find him. Another partygoer said he heard the Norwalk resident say he would run away if he had the chance.

"He's still on the loose," Sigsworth said Thursday.

The boy is expected to be charged with underage consumption and obstructing official business when he is apprehended.

Deputies received a tip about the party from a North U.S. 250 woman who suspected her 17-year-old son stole alcohol from her and went to Huron, where he lives with his father, Sigsworth said.

Officers discovered several juveniles near beer cans and cups in a garage with no adults present, he said.

Two Berlin Heights girls, 15 and 16, respectively from Huff Road and Mechanic Street, were charged with underage consumption. Also facing a similar charge in connection with the party are two 17-year-old Huron boys and Michael B. Michaels, 19, of Huron, Sigsworth said.
