MONROEVILLE — Josh Eggleston, the village's new administrator, has been on the job for a week and feels he's headed in the right direction.

"I feel like I hit the ground running," he told council during a work session prior to Tuesday's council meeting.

Eggleston, 25, previously served as administrator of the village of Thornville for a little more than a year. He succeeds Ken Knuth, who resigned over the summer after a zoning dispute with members of Trinity Lutheran Church in the village. Knuth has since been hired as the village administrator of Delta, near Toledo.

At Tuesday's council meeting, Eggleston said a sanitary sewer installation project on South Ridge Street could begin within the next seven to 10 days. Currently there is a septic system.

Police Chief Mike Ruggles announced Capt. Jim Bond will be in New Mexico for four days in June for terrorism response training. The training is free, Bond said.

Also, council voted unanimously to create the position of laborer. Currently Matt Tyler is the only street department employee in the village.
