It started as '4 under 6' but now it's '4 over 18'

It was the spring of 1989. As happens every spring, the neighborhood becomes livelier as one gets to see one's neighbors, after not having seen much of them all winter. Here in Norwalk, as in other towns in this climate, neighbors "hibernate" during the winter months; it is too cold to barbecue outside or shoot hoops in the driveway. When we do emerge, we are bundled up against the cold, and we get our outside work done and go back inside as quickly as possible.
