CLEVELAND — A tradition now in its 18th season, the I-X Indoor Amusement Park opens March 23 and runs through April 15.

Among the new attractions at this 20-acre playground is Wacky Worm, a kiddie coaster that reaches heights of two stories as it travels over 100 feet of track.

Returning favorites include the Bumble Bee and Dragon Wagon rides, the antique cars and the five-lane giant slide, as well as entertainment and activities planned with children in mind.

The Kraft Kidzville children's area features more than 25 rides designed for youngsters. This area also contains the Big Backyard and its "I Want to be a Clown" show, which gives children a chance to show off their clown talents and play interactive games. At the circus, children can sing and dance and pretend they are in the main event. Another new attraction here is Kiddie Karaoke, where the little ones can sing all their favorite songs and nursery rhymes while Mom and Dad watch on large screens.

Some attractions only occur on certain days.

La Fiesta Latina, a Hispanic heritage weekend, is scheduled for March 24 and 25. Live bands, dance troupes, ethnic food, family entertainment and cultural displays will highlight the Latino community. Also, Dora the Explorer memo pads and temporary tattoos will be passed out to the first 1,000 children on those two days. Also on those days, Tyrone and Uniqua from "The Backyardigans" will be at the amusement park.

On March 31 and April 1, visitors will have an opportunity to meet and greet their favorite costume character who lives under the sea: SpongeBob Squarepants from the Nickelodeon TV show. Free SpongeBob bracelets will be distributed to the first 1,000 children on those two days.

Lou Mack's Trick Dog Thrill Show from CoolDog Productions takes place from April 6 to 15. This canine entertainment will get the whole family cheering as the dogs perform high-flying Frisbee tricks and dive into a 15,000-gallon pool in a longest-jumper competition.

Jungle Terry will be on hand from April 5 and April 10 to teach children about animals and reptiles. Jungle Terry's passion for animals shows in his educational yet fun discussions with children about animals and their habitats.

Also, Magic Mike will be performing magic tricks and illusions, as well as making balloon art for children, March 24 and 25, March 31, April 1 and April 9 to 15.

Show hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and 5 to 10 p.m. weekdays except Thursday, April 5, when it will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Monday, March 26 and Monday, April 2, when it will be closed. The I-X Center is located on Ohio 237, adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

General admission is $19. Children under 48 inches cost $16, while seniors 60 and older pay $9 on Saturdays and Sundays but are free throughout the week. Children 3 and under also are free. Discounts are available through AAA offices, some Pizza Hutt locations, Mountain Dew cans and online.

Those admission prices which are $1 more than last year cover the cost of all major rides, including several thrill-rides geared for teens. Other optional attractions such as fun houses, mini-golf and pony rides cost an additional $1 or $2. And there are rows and rows of carnival games where "there's a winner every time" and food booths, just like at county fairs.

Parking also costs extra. Last year, it was $5.
