"Beef it's what's for dinner" is the cattlemen's slogan and of course it's what they ate at the 55th annual meeting. The banquet was recently held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church hall in Norwalk, with more than 200 members and supporters in attendance.

The banquet was dedicated in memory of Craig Lepley of Bellevue, longtime cattleman, producer and supporter who died last fall.

Huron County Cattlemen President Rich Benich presented three awards to Huron County youth that exhibit their cattle at the fair. These awards were based from the January steer weigh-in at the fairgrounds, in preparation for the upcoming August County Fair. After the steers were weighed exhibiters stayed with their animals for a small livestock show, with the winners of the show being presented their awards at this banquet. Those winners included: Caleigh Ott Grand Champion Beef Steer, Macie Ott Reserve Champion Steer and Richard Bolden Grand and Reserve Champion dairy steers. The three winners received cattlemen jackets with their names on them.

Glenn Feichtner brought greeting from the Ohio Cattlemen's Association to Huron County as he addressed those in attendance about the cattle industry across the state. He spoke of the concerns of foreign countries, exports and the fact that all the foreign countries are getting pickier about the meat that is brought into their countries.

The featured speaker for the evening was Dr. Jep Hostetler, an Associate Professor Emeritus of Preventative Medicine and Psychiatry. He works with student-doctors in understanding the doctor/patient relationship with positive communication. He is also a world-class magician and has spoken to groups of all ages. As he addressed the audience he was very humorous and joyful while adding in some magic at the same time.

He also related to the group about agriculture, family and life happens jokes. He also spoke to the group about his new book called "The Joy Factors" of which he highlighted through his speech.
