HEAP offers one-time heating bill payment for income-eligible families

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) provides a one-time payment during the winter heating season toward an energy bill for income-eligible consumers.

With one form, customers may apply for the: HEAP, HEAP Emergency Crisis Program, Percent of Income Payment Plan and Home Weatherization Assistance Program.

Your household may be eligible for heating assistance if the household's income is 175 percent or below the federal poverty guidelines, which are as follows: $17,150 12-month income for a family of one; $23,100 for two; $29,050 for three; $35,000 for four; $40,950 for five; and $46,900 for six. For households with more than six members, add $5,590 for each additional person.

Customers applying for HEAP/SCP assistance must bring the following documents: Social security numbers for all household members two years of age or older, proof of income, disability notice if disabled, all utility bills, gas, electric and/or bulk fuel regardless of account status. The Norwalk CAC Office is at 92 N. Prospect St.
