Go green at this year's fair

If you have had a chance to visit the Huron County Fairgrounds you will see that there has been a lot of work done. Fair board members, 4-H clubs and volunteers have painted, cleaned and planted during the summer.

If you go to the fair, now it's time for you to do your part. Every piece of litter on the fairgrounds and in the camping and parking lots hurts. Every piece of gum, every sandwich wrapper, every cigarette butt just plain looks bad.

The fair board goes out of its way to be sure there are plenty of trash barrels throughout the grounds. It's up to all of us to use them.

Don't forget about the recycling bins. The blue bins marked "Cans Only" are for pop and other aluminum cans. They are near the barn areas and the stands that sell cans. Each year a non-profit group collects the cans and uses the proceeds to fund an activity or two.

Out in the south lot is a cardboard/paper box. If your group has many cardboard boxes, they are clean and broken down, they are welcomed to use this box.

I hope everyone will visit the fair at least once ... it has so much to offer.

Working together the 2007 Huron County Fair can be the "Most Green" ever.
