A limited number of computers are available through a new program for income eligible (200 percent of federal poverty level) families in Huron County.
"Some school-aged children are disadvantaged by not having computers at home to keep up with technology. This program will help about 130 families with up-to-date systems and age appropriate educational software" said Marla White, workforce development administrator.
There are a limited number of new Compaq computers with 17-inch LCD monitors and software available. It is important to bring with you at the time of application: Proof of income for all adults in the household for the past 30 days; verification of Social Security numbers for everyone in the household (e.g. Social Security card, photo I.D. official document verifying number); and verification of address (e.g. utility bill, rent or mortgage document).
There is a four-hour class on computer usage and programs that must be completed in order to obtain a computer. Enter through entrance "C" at the Department of Huron County Job & Family Services, 185 Shady Lane Drive in Norwalk. The offer is good while supplies last.
