On Feb. 12, Troy Knoll of Will-o-Knoll Holstein Dairy Farm visited the South Central Agri Science I Section 2 class to inform the students about dairy cows, dairy judging and dairy farming. Tristan Conaway invited Troy to be a guest speaker during their cattle lesson unit. Knoll talked to the students about the different breeds of dairy cattle and the advantages and disadvantages of each of the breeds. He told the students about the everyday work that dairy cattle involve, as well as, the joys of being a dairy farmer.
Knoll talked about preparing cattle for shows and the hard work that starts long before the show comes to prepare the animals for the ring.
Knoll fielded various questions from the students near the end of the class period. A special thanks to Knoll for speaking to the class and teaching us about the dairy farming profession.
