Edison rolls past SMCC

MILAN Kaitlyn Fischer proved to be a tough customer on Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic bats Monday in a Sandusky Bay Conference softball game.

The Edison freshman allowed just one hit in a 12-0 win. The Lady Chargers improved to 5-1 overall, 1-0 in the league and are scheduled to play Wednesday at Clyde.

Fischer allowed a second-inning single to Kaity Reidy, while fanning six in the five-inning contest.

"We were solid in just about all aspects of the game," Chargers softball coach Mark Vanderpool said. "Kaitlyn did a good job pitching and whenever they put the bat on the ball, we were able to make the plays."

She received plenty of help from her teammates. Ashley Elber led the 11-hit attack with two hits, including a three-run homer and five RBI. Elisa Butler also contributed two hits with two runs and one RBI.

Logan Jessee and Fischer each went 1-of-3 with doubles. Fischer scored three runs, while Katey Feltman drove in one run.

Norwalk 4, TC 2

Norwalk rebounded from a tough loss to Bellevue April 3 with a win over Tiffin Columbian Tuesday in Northern Ohio League action.

The Lady Truckers improved to 6-1 overall, 1-1 in the league. and are scheduled to play at Shelby today in a league game.

Lisa Patusky struck out nine batters in raising her record to 4-1. Norwalk had six hits, including Courtney Wheeler with a pair of doubles. She added three RBI.

Sarah Luc posted a hit and RBI. Bridgette Hinckley, Amanda Reamer and Elle McGue also had hits for the Lady Truckers, who played good defense in preventing Columbian from tying the game late with runners in scoring position.

St. Paul had a rough outing as Mohawk tallied 11 runs in the sixth inning Monday for the win.

The Lady Flyers dropped to 1-7 and are scheduled to host Mapleton Wednesday in a Firelands Conference game.

Stacia Fritz, Bri Missler and Danielle Leto all gained hits for St. Paul. Chelsea Cooper went 5-of-6 with four runs, five RBI and two doubles for Mohawk. Brittany Rospert and Missler both pitched for the Lady Flyers.

Bellevue 8, Willard 2

BELLEVUE Leading 2-0, Bellevue erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday to pull away for a NOL win.

The Lady Flashes are 4-2 overall, 1-1 in the NOL and scheduled to host Upper Sandusky today in a league contest.

For Willard, Bri Clark slugged a two-run home run in the seventh inning with Nici Fluharty, who had singled, on base. Annette Benich doubled, while Tiffani Wallrabenstein and Sam Kamann both added singles. Fluharty dropped to 2-2 with the pitching loss.
