Jacqueline M. Smith, 58, of Moreland Hills, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way Friday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Thomas I. Romell Sr., 67, of 4827 Pontiac Section Line Road, Monroeville, at the intersection of Peru Center Road and Townline Road 12. After the collision, Smith's Chevrolet Uplander went off the left side of Peru Center Road and into a corn field. Willard EMS transported Smith and her passenger, Bridget J. Galas, 30, of Cuyahoga Falls, to Mercy Hospital of Willard, both with serious injuries. Also transported were Romell and his passenger, Patricia A. Romell, 62, with minor and possible injuries respectively. All four victims were treated and released.

No citation was issued Friday after the driver's side mirrors of the vehicles driven by Carl L. Parr, 21, of 23 W. Washburn St., New London, and Patricia L. Poth, 30, of 4355 Rome Greenwich Road, Greenwich, collided on Greenwich Milan Road. Poth and her passenger, Michael S. Poth, 31, reported minor injuries, but weren't transported.

Clifford E. Smith, 71, of 28 Henry St., was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way on a public highway Saturday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Charles Sharfenberg, 79, of 530 Zenobia Road, on Fair Road. After the collision, Sharfenberg's pickup truck went off the right side and hit a mailbox.


Sent four firefighters, a rescue boat and rope gear to Ohio 61 in the Shelby area at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in response to a request for a swift water rescue team. The team removed three victims from a vehicle and one from a home, cleared four other homes and removed an electric meter from a home. Returned to station at 4.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday at 100 Furniture Parkway. Returned to station at 4:31.

Assisted North Central EMS with loading a patient into an ambulance at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday at 31 Jefferson St. and drove the squad to the hospital. Returned to station at 8:20.


Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call Tuesday about a woman having a suspected mental incident on West Seminary Street. The schizophrenic woman who had several drinks while on multiple medications was transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center for medical and psychological evaluations.

Jeffrey A. Signs, 36, of 531 E. Main St., Bellevue, was arrested on five local contempt of court warrants Tuesday at the Franklin County Jail. The original charges were one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of passing bad checks. Signs currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Christopher B. Smith, 41, of Sandusky, was arrested on two local contempt of court warrants Tuesday as he was being released from the Erie County Jail. The original charges were carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business. Smith currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

A Whittlesey Avenue resident reported someone threw a brick through her front passenger side window and her wallet was missing Tuesday.

A Jefferson Street resident accused a Willard teenager who moved in after being kicked out of his home of punching her in the forehead Tuesday.

Horace D. Dunlap, 50, of Columbus, was arrested on two local warrants Tuesday at the Franklin County Jail and charged with failure to pay fines and costs and failure to report to jail. He is serving a 10-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.

A Milan Avenue business employee reported the theft of hand-held radios Tuesday.

A Townsend Avenue resident reported the theft of a figurine from her yard Tuesday.

Responded to a Newton Street disturbance today. Michele M. Pugh, 40, whose address was unavailable, received an undisclosed charge in connection with the investigation.


A Bevier Road, Plymouth, farm employee reported an undisclosed theft between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Wakeman residents on Butler Road, and East U.S. 20 reported being threatened Tuesday.

Dispatchers received four 9-1-1 calls about a suspected prowler accused of trying to enter a Neal Zick Road, Willard, mobile home Tuesday.

An area motorist reported Tuesday there was a wire across Wenz Road, Wakeman, but it ended up being a garden hose stretched across the road to drain a nearby yard.

An area resident reported his mother's mailbox was missing Tuesday from Austin Drive, Willard.

An Ohio 103, Willard, resident reported being harassed Tuesday.

A Sandusky employee reported someone attempted to disconnect an illegal use of electric services Tuesday on U.S. 250, New London.

A Milan Avenue resident accused his landlord of threatening him Tuesday.

A Willard West Road, Willard, resident requested a deputy watch a tape Tuesday of several people reportedly harassing him.

A Centerton South Road, Willard, resident requested to speak to a deputy for an undisclosed reason Tuesday.

An area motorist reported almost hitting a horse Tuesday on Boughtonville Road, Greenwich.
