Responded to smoke coming out of a microwave at 6:29 p.m. Thursday at 65 Parsons St. Firefighters aired out the structure and advised the owners to install working smoke detectors. Returned to station at 6:43.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 3:14 p.m. Thursday at 35 Bouscay Ave. Returned to station at 3:30.


A Benedict Avenue business employee reported someone drove away without paying for $22.08 worth of gasoline Thursday. The incident remains under investigation.

Edward Gibson, 30, address unknown, was arrested Thursday on an undisclosed warrant from the Huron Police Department and transferred to a Huron officer.

A concerned citizen reported a "strange man" threw a child's silver Razor scooter into a yard Thursday. Police transported the bicycle to the storage area.

Tracey Kane, 36, address unknown, was served a warrant Thursday and charged with passing two bad checks at a Milan Avenue business.

A Grand Avenue resident reported her daughter's red, white and silver Next bicycle was stolen Thursday.

An area resident reported the theft of two of his bicycles Thursday from Benedict Avenue. One of the bikes is a chrome BMX-style Redline, valued at $200. The other is a blue and chrome Schwinn "Z" Force, worth about $100.

Willard Hayes, 57, of 7 Reed St., turned himself in on a warrant Thursday and was charged with failure to appear for a pretrial. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

A Simpson Avenue business owner reported someone damaged a maroon 1993 Chevrolet Suburban on Thursday.

Michael Brown, 34, of Sandusky, was arrested Thursday on a warrant and charged with failure to appear for a Norwalk Municipal Court trial. He was released later on a recognizance bond from the Huron County Jail.

A Milan Avenue business employee reported Thursday someone broke a window on a customer's 2002 Saturn.

Advised of two suspicious vehicles at an Ohio 61 organization Thursday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call Thursday from an East U.S. 250 resident who reported being threatened by her neighbor.

Dispatchers received about 12 9-1-1 calls about an Ohio 4 in Bellevue, accident Thursday. Callers reported the accident involved two tractor-trailers, an explosion and vehicle on fire.
