Cougars tough and fearless; Are they headed for Ohio?

I've always been interested in animals. I'm curious about their lives, what they do, and why they do it, which is why I ended up with a master's degree in zoology from The Ohio State University and 30 years of teaching high school biology.

These days I pretty much know how squirrels will react in a given situation, where a rabbit will sit and where he'll go when jumped and the best places to hunt deer. But there's one animal I've never quite understood, one that makes me wonder why they do what they do. That's cougars, and especially why and how they attack humans.
