Comments shouldn't be anonymous

I am very disappointed to see the approach the Norwalk Reflector has taken in what has generally been devoted to "Letters to the Editor."
Your stated policy concerning letters to the editor states that all letters to the editor must be signed and include the writer's street address and telephone number. However, you are now printing comments that appear in the paper anonymously via e-mail to your Web site. I wonder how many of these unnecessary remarks would be made if the writers had to submit their names for publication and publicly stand behind their comments.
To slam people anonymously in a public forum is a terrible display of cowardice. Most newspapers stopped allowing such attacks years ago. I hope the Norwalk Reflector will change the policy concerning these e-mail comments. We don't need any more examples of how merciless and mean people can be toward each other. Thank you for your consideration.
