Nykkytta Rose Mankin of Norwalk has received the Milan Chamber of Commerce Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,000 toward her tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year.
This scholarship is awarded to a student who is a graduate, or candidate for graduation from Edison High School. This includes students from Edison who attended EHOVE.
Mankin is a 2007 graduate of Edison High School where she was on the honor and merit rolls, was named student of the quarter twice and earned two academic letters. While in high school she was involved with Students Against Destructive Decisions, Spanish club and art club.
She is a freshman majoring in interior design. She is the granddaughter of Ronald and Joyce O'Brien of Norwalk.
Mankin also joined Elizabeth Susan Schnable of Berlin Heights in receiving the Milan Parents Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. They will each receive $2,000 toward their tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Schnable is a 2007 graduate of Edison High School where she was on the honor and merit rolls and earned the senior athletic award. While in high school she was involved with Chargarettes, show choir, concert choir, drama club and track. She is a freshman majoring in special education. She is the daughter of Tami Schnable.
Graduates of Edison High School who are either continuing or incoming freshman are eligible for this award. Students with a B or C average and financial need are encouraged to apply.
Sarah Elizabeth Turley of Milan and Amanda Cassidy of Sandusky have both received the Mylander Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University. They will both receive $1,000 toward their tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year.
This scholarship is offered to students who are residents of Erie County communities. Four awards were made available for the BGSU Firelands 2007-2008 academic year.
Turley is a senior majoring in human development and family services. She has been on the dean's list. She has been involved with hall council, BGSU dance marathon and intramural softball.
She is a 2004 graduate of Edison High School. She is the daughter of Brian and Connie Turley of Milan.
Cassidy is a 2000 graduate of Firelands High School where she was inducted into the National Honor Society.
She is a senior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa.
She is the daughter of Craig and Leisa Cassidy of Berlin Heights.

Sandra Leber of Berlin Heights, received a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction in literacy. Roger Dow of Milan, received a master of education degree in curriculum instruction in intervention specialist moderate to intensive. Allison Barney Norwalk, completed a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction in classroom instruction. Deborah Leffler of Norwalk, received a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction in classroom instruction. Susan Stanfield of Nova, received a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction in talent development education. Elisa Henke of Willard, received a bachelor of science in social work degree.
University of Akron freshman Kelly Brown of Milan, a graduate of St. Paul High School, has been awarded the university's Scholarship for Excellence, which provides $6,000 per academic year.
