Clerk of courts sees rise in passport applications

Huron County Clerk of Courts Susan Hazel is urging residents to plan ahead when applying to get their passports. That's because people have been getting them several weeks later than usual.

"Where we had been working in a six- to eight-week time frame, they are asking us to allow 10 weeks now," Hazel said. "People are trying to prepare because in a year's time if they travel to Canada or Mexico by car, they'll need a passport."
