St. Peter Lutheran

The 8 a.m. worship service will be held outside Sunday under the covered drive. The dress will be casual. This special service will follow the order of Chicago folk service.

The Saturday night service and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services will be inside.

Clarksfield UMC

CLARKSFIELD This church, located at 5151 Zenobia Road, worships at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The congregation will honor the Rev. Patty Jo Sheldon and her husband Ron on their 40th wedding anniversary during the service. Sheldon's sermon will be "A Gift to Share, a Gift to Treasure Faith." There will be cake and coffee following the service.

First Presbyterian, Norwalk

This Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. worship service, the Rev. Adrian Doll will continue in the new summer preaching series, "Hope for Today and Tomorrow." The senior high youth meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

The summer Bible study, "Digging Deeper," concludes at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at Room 107.

The worship committee is hosting a contemporary worship service of prayer and praise at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

First United Methodist, Norwalk

Come visit the First United Methodist Church booth at the Huron County Fair this week. Members of the church will be on hand to greet people, answer questions about the church and to showcase some of the many activities that take place in the life of the church.

The church is starting a group for moms of school-age children. This new adventure will kick off at the church beginning from 9 a.m. to noon. Sept. 22. If you are a mother who feels like you are "praying on the run" because you are so busy and finds that prviate time with God has become hit or miss, then this may be the group for you.

In addition, First UMC is hosting its fifth annual golf scramble Sept. 8 at Woussickett Golf Course in Sandusky. To register or for more information call the church at (419) 668-1938.

Also, the church will continue to have summer worship at 9:30 a.m. Sundays through Sept. 2.

St. Mary/St. Anthony

Masses for the feast of the Assumption, a holy day of obligation, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary and 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony.

There will be no 9:15 a.m. Mass at St. Mary on Tuesday and no 9 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony on Wednesday.

Steuben UCC

STEUBEN Sunday is the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture lessons, based on the theme "Faith Is...," are Isaiah 1:1, 10-20; Psalm 50:1-8, 22-23; Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16; and Luke 12:32-40. The Rev. Patricia E. Welch, pastor and teacher, will lead worship during the 11 a.m. service. Large print bulletins will be available.

The congregation continues to gather school supplies. Some with be sent to Church World Service for international distribution. The remainder will be distributed locally. Thanks to all who have donated countless scissors, crayons, notebooks, and other needed articles. They will be dedicated Aug. 19.

Norwalk Church of Christ

The 10:30 a.m. Sunday lesson is called, "Stumbling Blocks to Faith: Ignorance." The 6 p.m. Sunday lesson will continue an examination into the churches of the New Testament by looking at Thessalonica.

The church has Bible studies for all ages at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Wednesday. The church encourages fair-goers to visit the church booth this week. More information is available at norwalkchurch.org.

St. Paul Catholic, Norwalk

Children's liturgy of the word will be celebrated at 9 a.m. and Spanish Mass at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Wednesday is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a holy day of obligation. Masses will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday August 15th at 6:15 and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will be no shrine Mass.

This month's Youth Nite for teens will be held after the 5 p.m. Mass Sunday in the parish center gathering space. For information, call youth ministry team members Jen Evans at (419) 663-2219 or Julie Wise at (419) 663-3173.

There will be a training meeting for all Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) team members from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the parish center Juan Diego room.

A five-week series on the teachings of Vatican II will be held in the Juan Diego room of the parish center. A Tuesday morning group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 and Oct. 2.

A Wednesday evening group will meet from 7 to 9 on Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26, and Oct. 3. Fee is $20 for materials. Additional flyers available at the parish center. Register by Friday.
