Christie Lane School will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a special ceremony from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Formal ceremonies will acknowledge the individuals served, their families and supporters.

"This will highlight the entire MRDD (Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities) program children and adults," said Marlie Tanzillo, administrative assistant to Superintendent Dee Zeffiro-Krenisky. "The whole state of Ohio is celebrating its MRDD program. Different counties are having celebrations.

"We expect a lot of former students and staff."

Dr. Dee expects a big day.

"It's actually our 50th year at Christie Lane but 40th celebration of our (MRDD) board and we felt it was time to party," she said. "We want to say thank-you to our families, the people we serve and, of course, thank you to the people of Huron County."

Here is the program schedule:

1 p.m. State Rep, Matthew Barrett (D-Amherst).

1:15 p.m. John Martin, director of Ohio Department of MRDD.

1:30 p.m. Christie Lane Superintendent Dee Zeffiro-Krenisky.

1:45 p.m. Video presentation of Christie Lane history pictures from past and present.

Everybody is welcome.

Refreshments and a social hour will follow the video presentation.
