Ledford awarded

WILLARD - Tami Ledford, of Willard, an independent consultant with BeautiControl, an international manufacturer and party-plan direct sales company, was recently awarded a trip to Costa Rica as part of the company's annual awards program. She earned the trip for her outstanding sales and recruiting initiatives.

"I was proud to be recognized with this trip for my work and dedication and I appreciate the support and encouragement that I have steadily been receiving since joining as a consultant with BeautiControl," she said. "It's a joy to work with a company that is dedicated to giving women the best and empowering them to create the life they love."

Dolans denied

BETHPAGE, N.Y. (AP) Shareholders of Cablevision Systems Corp. rejected on Wednesday a $10.6 billion bid by the company's controlling shareholders, the Dolan family, to take the New York-area cable TV provider private.

The deal had faced opposition from large shareholders, proxy advisory firms and Wall Street analysts who said the company should have a higher value than the $36.26 per share the Dolans had agreed to pay.

The defeat of the Dolans bid leaves Cablevision to continue as a stand-alone public company.
