Schild's IGA Event a success

The Huron County Humane Society's adopt-a-thon July 28 at Schild's IGA resulted in three pet adoptions.

"This was my first adoption event in Norwalk, and it was a complete success," shelter operations manager Ken Stewart said. "We raised the awareness of our organization and our adoptable companion animals."

Schild's IGA is a fundraising partner of the Huron County Humane Society and presented Stewart with a check for $654 for the IGA receipts the organization had collected, totalling almost $1,000 so far this year. "Every dollar donated goes directly toward our animals at the Huron County Humane Society." Stewart said.

You can drop your Schild's IGA receipts off at the shelter, mail them to the shelter or stop out at our next Schild's IGA event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8.

Walk for the Animals

SANDUSKY - The Humane Society of Erie County is gearing up for its 11th annual "Walk for the Animals" to be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 at Shoreline Park in downtown Sandusky.

People of all ages are invited to have fun, raise money and walk for the many homeless animals at the HSEC shelter. Your dog is even welcome to join.

One of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the shelter, area animal lovers are encouraged to collect donation pledges from family and friends prior to the walk.

Sponsor sheets are available at the shelter, or by calling (419) 626-6220. There will be complimentary food and beverages for all walkers along with free treats, toys, and goodies for all dogs. Area businesses have donated great prizes to be awarded to the top five donation collectors.
