EHS band on Fox 8 Friday

MILAN - The Edison High School Charger marching band under the new direction of Denise Reilly will be performing live on the My Fox 8 TV morning show Friday. The band will be performing numerous marching band songs throughout the entire morning show. Songs will be performed during the different breaks for the commercials.

The Charger band will load the buses at the Edison High School parking lot at 4:30 a.m. in order to arrive in time for the live performance in the Fox 8 front yard. The Charger band is 120 musicians strong with two majorettes.

In early August, the Fox 8 TV studios contacted high school principal Jeff Goodwin to see if the band would be interested in performing live for the cameras. In talking with Reilly the two decided this would be an outstanding educational experience for our students and also a fabulous way to represent Edison High School to their many viewers throughout the communities.

The students have been working extremely hard to prepare for their big weekend. They will be doing the Fox 8 TV show in the morning of Sept. 21 followed by a full day of classes and a home football game against Huron that night. On Saturday the Charger band will travel to Vermilion High school to perform in their annual Wooly Bear Marching Band Festival at 7:30 p.m. This is a non-competitive band show case of about 10 local bands from the surrounding area.

On Sunday the band will then perform the annual Wooly Bear Parade which will once again be held in Vermilion. The parade kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with its own "Mr. Wooly Bear" Fox 8 weather man, Dick Goddard.
