Museum Hours

NEW LONDON - The New London Area Historical Society Museum at 17 E. Main St. will now be open from 1 to 4 p.m. the first Saturday of each month, instead of the first Sunday. Appointments for other times can be made by calling Vaughn Neel at (419) 929-3674.

Agricultural Heritage

The Huron County Agricultural Heritage will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the fair board office at the fairgrounds. The agenda for the meeting includes planning for the Huron County Fair. Anyone with ideas about the fair should attend this meeting. For details call (440) 839-2815.

Golden Agers

NEW LONDON - The New London Golden Agers will meet at noon July 11 for a potluck lunch at the Legion Hall at 185 N. Main St. The group is looking for new members and invites anyone interested persons to attend.

Community Club

NEW LONDON - The New London Community Club meets at 6 p.m. July 11 in council chambers at the village hall.

Soccer fields ready

NEW LONDON - Two new soccer fields are ready for play at New London's Recreation Park. The fields were dedicated in memory of Jay Thomas, and the goal nets were donated by Thomas' brother Charles "Chuckie" Thomas.

A fall youth soccer league is being formed and anyone interested in being involved should call the park office at (419) 929-8069 or the village office at (419) 929-4091.

Movie time

WAKEMAN - It's movie time at the Wakeman Community Library. Visit the library at 10:30 a.m. Monday for "The Great Mouse Detective" and at 1 p.m. for "Bridge to Terabithia."

At 10:30 a.m. Aug. 3 and 6 the library will show "Curious George" and at 1:30 p.m. "Hoot." These movies are free, open to everyone and popcorn will be served.

Summer reading is still in full swing, and the staff wants to encourage those who have not signed up to take advantage of the program because there is something for everyone.

Magician Jim Kleefeld will present his show, "The Mystery of the Missing Books," at 1 p.m. July 20. The public is invited to this free program, and summer reading prizes will be awarded following the show. Kevin Neel earns

Eagle Scout rank

NEW LONDON - Kevin Neel received his Eagle Scout rank Saturday night at a Court of Honor held at the New London Reservoir Park.

Kevin, 16, is a junior at New London High School and participates in band, track, cross country and the French Club.

He is the son of Denise and Eric Essenmacher and John Neel.

Franklin chosen to sing at state fair

NEW LONDON - New London High School senior Nicole Franklin has been chosen to sing in the All Ohio State Fair Choir in Columbus July 26 to Aug. 12.

Only 150 students were chosen from the 500 who applied for the honor.
