Child, 6, dies in wheat bin

Larry Garner, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Garner of Fairfield Township was smothered yesterday when he became buried in a bin containing wheat on the Garner farm.

The body was discovered by the father. It is believed the child had been covered by the wheat a half hour or more.

This is one of the first fatalities of this kind that has occurred in the county for years.

The Garner family resides south of Fairfield Center and is well know and prominent.

Local theater raises $149.60 for USO Fund

In co-operation with the nationwide drive by movie theaters on behalf of the United Service Organization, the new Norwalk Theatre did a splendid job.

The campaign was conducted Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week and a stirring appeal was made to movie goers by a film that vividly portrayed the work of the USO. The local theater collected and sent to the organization a total of $149.60.

Homer C. Ellis, Norwalk school superintendent, announced today that a total of 57 teachers have been engaged for the coming school year. The list of teachers follows:
