Huron County Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Cardwell heard testimony from about five witnesses in a trial Friday over allegations two Norwalk Middle School students threatened another student.

"Both defendants testified," chief probation officer Phil Charville said.

Cardwell did not make a ruling after the hearing, which lasted about seven hours. He gave Huron County Juvenile Prosecutor Jennifer DeLand and defense attorneys Doug Clifford and Tom McGuire until Friday to submit their written closing arguments.

The judge is expected to release his written ruling Feb. 26, Charville said.

Both 14-year-old defendants, who have been released on house arrest, are charged with one count each of aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor.
