Are we being robbed?

Who's got the best prices in town?

It changes every day, but you're most likely to find the best gas price at the Sunoco on West Main Street.

Its average price for gas is lowest in town. In contrast, the Rich on Milan Avenue has been the most expensive over the last four months or so.

Don't buy your gas on U.S. 250, north of League Street. Four of the five highest prices are found in that location. If you must buy gas north of town, wait until the last chance prices are almost in order of distance from town on north 250. The further you go the (slightly) lower the price.

IGA is the exception to the above rule. Its prices are generally lower than Mickey Mart, another mile or so up the road.

It makes sense, of course, that stations that are closer to each other are more likely to have prices that are close as well. After all, if two stations are across the street from each other, and one has lower prices, where are you going to stop?

However, the two stations in most direct competition, Hy-Miler and Sunrise, end up turning that idea on its head.

Generally, you're best off sticking close to town. Beside the Sunoco, Rich on Benedict Avenue and Marathon on Whittlesey Avenue are going to be your best bets.
