Appeal court hears arguments in Gravelle case

TOLEDO Three judges from the 6th District Court of Appeals heard oral arguments Monday from attorneys about decisions a Huron County Juvenile Court judge made about the case of the 11 Clarksfield Township adopted children kept in cages.
In March 2006, Judge Timothy Cardwell granted permanent custody of the children to the county after two sets of hearings. Prior to that ruling, Cardwell ruled Michael and Sharen Gravelle, of St. John Road, abused eight of the youngsters and that all 11 were dependent. That means that the state was concerned enough about the home environment to intervene.
