It's easy being green

There is a lot of talk about being "GREEN." Maybe the new year is a good time to do something about it. New Years = New actions.

First find a clean jar or a can with a top that is removable. One from oatmeal or chips or mayo is good. Clip out pictures of things that are good for the environment. Use to decorate the container.

Next, cut paper into one inch pieces, about 25 or so. Using the pictures, and your imagination, write up activities that are green. Each week pick an activity to do as a family. Pretty soon, you will be a lean and green family.

Here are some suggestions:

Walk to the library, post office or store instead of driving.

Replace a few light bulbs with the more efficient ones.

Take one bag of clothing to the clothes back for reuse.

Use your Norwalk Reflector to put your wet boots on.

Save the nicest Christmas bags, tins and boxes for next year.

Donate you old cell phones to the Senior Center.

Offer to help a neighbor with recycling.

Bring your own bags to the super market.
