Mickey Mart was robbed of about $187 early Tuesday morning. Police are searching for the suspect who fled the north-side business on foot.

The male suspect entered the store, went into the back room where the clerk was, led her to the cash register and had her open it, Norwalk Police Detective Sgt. Jim Fulton said. The woman was the only person in the gas station/convenience store when the incident happened shortly before 4 a.m.

"She was visibly shaken," Fulton said.

"He didn't show a weapon. He said he had a gun," the detective said.

After leaving the 331 Milan Ave. business on foot, the suspect headed south and then west to a car waiting in the parking lot beside Goodwill Industries, 250 Plank Road, Fulton said. The driver then went through a grassy area, turned south onto Plank Road and drove toward Westwind Drive, the detective said.

It's unknown if the driver was the suspect or someone else.

"He entered the store alone and left alone, but we don't know if anyone was waiting in the vehicle," Fulton said.

The suspect is between 5-feet 6-inches and 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs between 140 and 160 pounds. At the time of the robbery, the white man was wearing a red stocking cap with a bandana around his face. The suspect also wore a blue sweatshirt, gray gloves and pink or red pajama pants with a pattern of white stars and half-moons.

"We collected some evidence and that's still being processed," Fulton said. "We have leads we are following."
