Call it grandmother's intuition, but Ellen Kreeger thinks "something's not right" for her teenage grandson to be gone so long.

Jeremiah "Jeremy" K. Cook, 16, was last seen about 4 p.m. June 10 at Kreeger's 5 Manahan Ave. home.

"He left and he never came back," said Kreeger, who has had custody of the boy for the last three years.

"He went to hang out with his friends," she said. "I told him 'no' and I turn around and he's gone."

The boy was last seen wearing navy blue shorts with a white stripe on the side and a light gray T-shirt with an Element skateboard design. He also had on high-top purple and turquoise Nike sneakers.

The boy is 5-feet 5-inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. He has blue eyes and blond hair that goes to the top of his shoulders. His right bang hangs over his right eye.

Kreeger said she's contacted her grandson's parents, Melissa Beck and Jeremy R. Cook, both of Sandusky, but they haven't heard anything from him. The parents don't have listed telephone numbers and couldn't be reached for comment.

"This is really abnormal behavior," Kreeger said.

"This is abnormal behavior for him. Something's not right ... because he's never taken off. This is just not him," she added.

The grandmother suspects one of her grandson's friends knows where he is. Kreeger said she's talked to several of his friends, but they've said they haven't seen him.

Kreeger informed Norwalk Police Officer Kenneth Stiert about her missing grandson on June 10. The officer searched two places where he thought the boy might be, but didn't find him, Capt. Mike Conney said.

"Apparently he didn't like how things were going and took off," Conney said about the boy's disappearance.

Since Kreeger said she hasn't gotten any feedback from police, she has been asking multiple people about Jeremy and driving through the area looking for him.

"I've basically been doing everything myself," she said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jeremiah "Jeremy" K. Cook is encouraged to call the Norwalk Police Department at (419) 663-6780 or (419) 668-3311.
