Towne and Country Players announces season events

Towne and Country Players Inc., based in Norwalk, recently announced its Season 53 events and the new board of directors.

Greg McDonald, President of the educational-charitable non-profit, said shows will be held in various educational venues starting with the annual veterans tribute show in Huron at 3 p.m. Nov. 11. This year’s event is “Stars and Stripes and Swingmania,” which hits the stage of the former BGSU Huron Playhouse, 325 Ohio St., Huron. Tickets are free for all veterans and active military personnel, but are otherwise $15 in advance or at the door for the general public. The show is appropriate for ages 5 and older.

“Christmas by Notre Dame” will be the annual Yuletide event scheduled for St. Mary Church, 38 W. League St. The Notre Dame Concert Choir will perform well-known Christmas carols and selections from Handel’s “Messiah.” Tickets are $12 in advance or at the door for the 3p.m. Dec. 2 concert.

T & C’s annual spring event will be the return of the successful “The Men of Independence” male chorus performing “Barbershop, Broadway, Ballads and Brawn.” The group, under the direction of Gary Lewis, is now 17th in the world after receiving the honor at the international competition in Orlando, Fla. this summer. The event is scheduled in Huron at the old Huron Playhouse with tickets costing $15 in advance or at the door.

Officers for the organization include Mark Widman, vice-president; Nola Jean Calhoun, secretary; Barb Weltlin; Clark Hunter, of Greenwich; Vicki Dauch, James Heckelman, Chuck McKenna and Kathy Conway-Olak, all of Norwalk; Dr. Rand Laycock; Glenn Armstrong, of Bellevue; while publicity is handled by Dr. Jann Graham-Glann.
