HURON — Authorities recovered the body of missing Vermilion woman Brittany Young Thursday morning.

Huron Fire Capt. Mike Hohler said the body of Young, 29, was found on the shoreline at By-the-Shores Drive in Huron at about 11:15 a.m. Huron police Chief Bob Lippert said a landscaper found her body and called 911.

Young’s body was about two miles from Nickel Plate Beach, where she went missing in the water Sunday afternoon. Lippert said her family has been notified.

Lippert said Young’s body was taken by county coroner Brian Baxter to Foster Funeral Home in Huron. Her body will be taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, he said.

“This is a terrible tragedy and we extend our deepest sympathies to Brittany’s family and friends,” Lippert said.
