Section of U.S. 250 to close Wednesday

FITCHVILLE — U.S. 250, just north of Omega Road at the bridges over the railroad tracks and the Vermillion River, will close Wednesday for bridge repairs.

The detour route for northbound motorists is U.S. 250 to U.S. 224, west on U.S. 224 to Ohio 13, north on Ohio 13 to U.S. 250, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen the same day.

Here is a roundup of other road projects under way in Huron County, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation:

• U.S. 20, from the city of Norwalk to the village of Wakeman, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project and structure repairs. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete Aug. 15..

• US 20, at the structure over the Vermillion River, in Wakeman, will have reduced lane widths and traffic shifted to complete bridge repair work. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained. The project is expected to be complete in October.

• Ohio 103, between Ohio 99 and Ohio 61, will have single lane closures for a smooth seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in June.

• Ohio 162, from U.S. 250 to the village of New London, will have single lane closures for a chip seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July.

• Ohio 269, through the city of Bellevue, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August.

• Ohio 598, from the Richland County line to Ohio 61, will have single lane closures for a smooth seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in June.

Meanwhile, U.S. 224, just east of Bullhead Road, will close Monday for conduit installation. The detour route for westbound motorists will be U.S. 224 to Ohio 598, north on Ohio 598 to Ohio 103, west on Ohio 103 to Ohio 99, south on Ohio 99 to U.S. 224, and reverse for eastbound motorists. U.S. 224 is expected to reopen June 14. Bullhead Road, however, will remain closed for 30 days, reopening July 3.
