'Freezin For a Reason' set for Saturday

• Jan 18, 2019 at 6:00 PM

FREMONT — Camp Fire Sandusky County is looking forward to lining the pond with jumpers for  its annual “Freezin For a Reason” event Saturday.

The event brings together jumpers who have spent weeks raising funds to jump into the 3-acre pond located at the camp, which benefits children in grades kindergarten through 12.

The funds raised by the jumpers will support the before- and after-school program, parents night out Teens In Action and additional winter programming.

Registration starts at 10:15 a.m. with the jump to take place at 12:15 p.m. at Camp Fire Sandusky County, 2100 Baker Road, Fremont.

Food and beverages, as well as a 50/50 raffle, will be available for those participating or spectators interested in coming out to watch the jumpers.

Those interested in jumping can sign up at campfiresc.org or register in person the day of the event.

“Camp Fire staff, board and youth are excited to watch as these men and women brave the frigid waters and jump in support of Camp Fire programming,” said Tory Thompson, executive director of Camp Fire Sandusky County. “I would like to thank our sponsors Swim Rite Pools, Wendy’s, Wetzel’s Sewer Cleaning/Larry Fisher, and Phaze 1 for the support in the event. We are making an impact on youth here in Sandusky County and the money raised helps us grow programming and move the needle of change to allow youth to find their spark in our nature.”
