The Margaret Swanbeck scholarship fund is being held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cameo at the Creek, 2406 New State Road.

The event will include raffles, local vendors, pizza, dessert and Christmas make-and-take gifts. Additional raffle tickets will be available to purchase.

“Margaret’s high school class will be graduating in June of 2019. She was very focused on obtaining a college education after graduating. Her scholarship was created, not only to remember her, but to pass on the chance for another classmate to realize their dream of attending college,” event organizers said on the Facebook event page.

Swanbeck, 15, of Monroeville, died Nov. 9, 2016 after battling Stevens-Johnson Syndrome for the last six weeks of her life at Akron Children’s Hospital.

The daughter of Carl and Angela was a Norwalk High School sophomore at the time. Principal Brad Cooley had told the Reflector it was “rough day” at school when everyone learned of the teenager’s passing, saying her death impacted both the students and staff members.

“We are humbly asking for donations of raffle items,” the event organizers said.

If you’re unable to attend and would like to make a donation, call Angie Swanbeck at 419-239-5051 or Julia Armstrong at 419-681-0911.
