UPDATED: Flooding expected at 12:30 a.m. in City of Norwalk

UPDATED: 11:34 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018: 

The City of Norwalk announced via its Facebook page that flooding is expected to occur very soon within the city limits and that residents should take precautions.

“For Norwalk Creek with (the) city limits: It is anticipated about 12:30 a.m. that it is imminent that Norwalk Creek will come out of it banks,” the city’s Facebook message read.

“This is based on the continued rainfall in combination with level sensors at various locations, including along the creek and at the principal spillway for Memorial Reservoir.”

Original post made at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018:

NORWALK — The Norwalk Police Department has issued a flood warning within city limits.

Below is the statement from the police:

“The city of Norwalk is issuing a flood warning for Norwalk Creek within the city limits. It is imminent that water level will rise above creeks, banks and beyond.”

Heavy rainfall moved into the area late Wednesday night, and did not let up throughout the entire day on Thursday. It is expected to slowly taper off into the early hours of Friday morning.
