MONROEVILLE — Monroeville held its sesquicentennial royalty coronation, hosted by the mayor April 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church, and named the court members.

After the introductions, the court was chosen by randomly pulling names. The members are: Karen Fries (queen), princess Anessa Ruggles, junior princess Raegan Schafer and prince Jacob Fries.

Anyone who has had a connection with the village of Monroeville, past or present, could have submitted their application to be on the court.

On the day of their coronation, applicants introduced themselves to those attending the reception and told one thing about Monroeville they felt they had a significant connection with or they shared a fond memory of the village.

After their selection, the court members and those in attendance were treated to a dessert reception courtesy of LynMarie’s Coffee on Main, the Monroeville village council and administration.

The court received flowers courtesy of Danielion and will represent the village at all future sesquicentennial events. Those events include: the Memorial Day parade in Monroeville, the 4th of July parade, the Sesquicentennial Historical Weekend on Saturday (memorial activities and ghost walk at Ridgefield Cemetery) and Sunday (vintage baseball game at Clark Park) and the Sesquicentennial Celebration Weekend from Sept. 7 through 9.
