Free throw contest Dec 19

Elks National Free Throw Hoop Shoot contest is scheduled for Dec. 9. Come prove your talent.

The Norwalk Elks Lodge again will host this popular national basketball event.

Winners in each bracket, separate boys and girls, advance to the district competition. Children ages 8 to 13 are welcome. Registration will be at 1 p.m., and the contest will start at 1:30 p.m. at the Barnes Gym in the Ernsthausen Community Center.

The event is free.

In other rec center news…

Team sponsors needed for the youth basketball program. Many team sponsors are needed for all age divisions, kindergarten through high school. Sponsorship cost is $125 per team. If you are interested in sponsoring or have questions, contact Stacie at 419-663-6775 x1028.

Open Gym. Special holiday open gym times will start Dec. 19. Specific days and times are scheduled for the different grade levels over break. Check out our website, www.norwalkrec.com, call, or stop by the front desk to learn of the available times.

Family First Night - New Year’s Eve Party!! That’s right, this annual event will be held for the entire family to celebrate in a fun, safe, tobacco and drug free environment at the Ernsthausen Community Center. The Norwalk Parks & Recreation Department are bringing you a family-friendly event full of games, music, swimming, door prizes, watching the ball drop on big screen, and much more. The event will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight. So gather all your family and friends and join us for a night of fun Dec. 31.
