PLYMOUTH — The village will welcome the Christmas season with flair on Saturday as it hosts “Positively Plymouth Presents Christmas in the Village” — an indoor/outdoor Christmas market with lots of trimmings.

More than 50 artisans, crafters and direct sales vendors will be on hand along with food trucks, live entertainment, Polar Express rides for the kiddies and an Elf Village shopping experience for children under 12.

Vendors will display their wares indoors at the Plymouth village building on West Broadway and across the street at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. They include everything from candles, Christmas decorations, adult clothing, lamps, beautiful hand-turned wooden bowls, jewelry, pottery, and adorable children’s clothing to repurposed furniture, homemade baked goods — even a Pierogi vendor.

Shoppers will find vendors on the street as well, including a live blacksmith, a Christmas tree and greens vendor, wood-crafters and more.

Live entertainment will take place in the open performance circle on the square beginning at 11 a.m. and every hour thereafter through 4 p.m. Entertainers include The Small Town Singers, Good Company ( a barbershop quartet); Drop Of The Hat Singers from Ashland University; Chad and Casey Sallee, Brady Jaquin and Mel Burns.

Weary shoppers and hungry visitors will find several food trucks on hand. Myers Cider Mill from Willard will provide chicken dinners; The Plymouth Lions Club will offer their doughnuts and their steak sandwiches; The Bavarian Wagon from Huron will be there with their famous sauerkraut balls and sausage sandwiches and the Cafe Barista food truck will warm up revelers with all kinds of hot coffee drinks and hot cocoa.

The children will find plenty of activities to keep them entertained. The Plymouth Area Museum will host its annual ELF Village from 10:00AM to 4:00PM where children under 12 can do their Christmas shopping with Santa’s elves (sorry - no adults permitted!), then visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus for a photo opportunity. The Plymouth Lions Club will provide Polar Express rides on their special train after which children of all ages are invited to the Plymouth Library for readings of the beloved Polar Express as well as crafts and a book sale.

In the Square, kids will find the Plymouth Improvement Committee’s “S’mores station” and there will be a cookie decorating activity in the village building.

Plymouth businesses will be open and shoppers are cordially invited to wander in and say hello as they enjoy the “Story Walk” around Plymouth’s unique square.

The event is a project of the Plymouth Improvement Committee and admission is free. A complete list of vendors and an entertainment schedule are available on Facebook at both “Christmas in the Village” or “Plymouth Improvement Committee.”
