As a 30-year retired Teamster truck driver, I believe a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Ohio 601 is a bad idea.
I can imagine truckers on U.S. 20 seeing how fast they can go through this traffic "impediment.” So, about once a month, you’re going to have an 18-wheeler get "tired" and "lay down" in your roundabout, making a traffic hindrance for both routes until the mess is cleaned up.
Plus, I believe it is a waste of taxpayers’ money to put this thing out in the middle of rural Ohio. I'm sure there are lots more places this money could be spent on Ohio's highways. What that intersection needs is a traffic light that stays green for U.S. 20 traffic until traffic on Ohio 601 trips the light. Also, there should be amber lights on U.S. 20 with a sign that says, "Prepare to stop when flashing.”
As a taxpayer, I ask you to please reconsider your support for this project.
