Commissioners should approve Emerson Creek Wind Project

NOTE: Paul and Marilyn Seasly of Huron County submitted this letter to the editor.

Having been a lifelong resident of Huron County, I understand the importance of companies investing in our community, providing jobs for our neighbors and economic development in our local economy. Apex Clean Energy has given us this opportunity, and that is why it is crucial that we must capitalize on it.

The Emerson Creek project will generate hundreds of jobs during the initial construction phase, and once complete; it will provide long-term jobs in the community. These are well-paying jobs, which will consist of union labor supporting local businesses.

Our local schools will benefit tremendously from these projects. That’s because the revenue generated will go to local schools which will help them fund advanced learning facilities and provide the next generation with a high-quality education system. It is essential that we focus on educating generations to come, as they are the future leaders of not only Huron County but also the world.

I commend Apex Clean Energy for wanting to invest in our community. Apex has given us, Huron County citizens, an opportunity to give back to our community and also pay it forward for generations to come. That is why I encourage the Huron County Commissioners to approve of the Emerson Creek Wind Project.
