You can't be pro-life then let children starve to death

NOTE: The following letter to the editor was submitted by Daisie E. Reish of Grafton:

Here we go again.

An old white male voting against women’s health issues. Dick Stein, representative for District 57, just overturned Gov. (John) Kasich’s veto on bill HB258 called “Heart Beat Bill,” which allows no abortions, even for rape and incest.

Before the vote, I called and tried to persuade him to not overturn this bill. At that time, his assistant informed me that he votes his conscience. Guess his constituents opinions don’t count in his decisions. If the bill had passed it would be declared unconstitutional but not until after saddling the state with a costly legal battle. Guess he doesn’t care about our tax dollars. He also voted himself a tax raise.

He previously voted for HB119, which makes it a lot harder for children to access food assistance programs and Medicaid. You can’t be pro-life and then let children starve to death.

EDITOR’S NOTE: An attempt to override outgoing Gov. John Kasich's veto of the controversial fetal heartbeat bill failed last week in the Ohio Senate. The Ohio House successfully voted to override Kasich’s veto, sending it the Ohio Senate. There, without discussion, the Republican-controlled chamber voted 19-13 in favor of an override — one vote short of the two-thirds needed. The legislation, House Bill 258, would have banned abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat is detected, which could come as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
