This week’s (Center Line) column brought back memories.
Back in the '70s and '80s my wife and I went to Midway Mall at least every couple of weeks. Sometimes more often. We enjoyed going upstairs in the May Company department store where there was a nice restaurant for lunch. Then the Sandusky Mall got our attention and most of our business.
Three or four years ago we decided to take a trip down memory lane and go to Midway Mall! The parking lot was not nearly as full as it used to be nor was the mall. Our favorite restaurant was no more. So we decided to go to a restaurant across the parking lot from the mall. As we entered the restaurant I noticed a sign on the door, I don't recall the exact wording but it was warning everyone to secure all your valuables out of sight in the trunk of your car.
So right then I figured out why the parking lot and mall was not nearly as busy as it used to be. And we decided that would be our last visit to Midway Mall.
