We need to keep the beauty of rural Ohio

NOTE: The following letter to the editor was submitted by Fred Ramsey of Norwalk.

Being a lifelong resident of Ohio, I have loved the beauty of rural Ohio, my early years in southern Ohio in the beautiful hills near the Muskingum and Ohio rivers and the past 50 years in the rolling hills of north central Ohio.

I had the opportunity some years ago to walk across Ohio, east to west, then later south to north. I have seen Ohio “firsthand by foot” so to speak.

My wife’s family has a small family farm east of Greenwich and I understand the difficulties of trying to keep that going.

We spend many evenings around the campfire enjoying the beauty of that land, seeing the star-filled sky and listening to the night sounds. We also have seen the monstrous wind turbines in Indiana and Illinois and most recently the Mackinac area of Michigan.

I feel the whine of the wind turbines and the miles of flashing red lights will be much like sitting near the runway at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

I wish there was a way to keep the beauty of the countryside as well as our small farms.
