This letter is in response to the article where Norwalk citizens are tired of being called a racist.
To whom it may concern,
If you don't want to be called racist then don't be racist. Do you not understand that the words you speak can define who you are? Calling the adults affected by the Corsos raid "a bunch of Mexicans" is something a racist would say. Same as the phrases "a bunch of blacks" or a "bunch of asians" and even a "bunch of whites" are racist things to say too.
Did you ever consider simply saying a "bunch of people.” Yes, they broke the law. But some of the children involved are U.S. citizens and our government kidnapped these children from their parents — U.S. citizens kidnapped. How dare you be OK with that? And what about young adults being deported who were brought here as children. They had no control over this and forged ahead to build a life. But our government, the government of the United States of America, which should set an example for the world, saw the plight of these young adults, looked at them and said "nah.” Then they shrugged their soldiers and kicked them out.
These actions are despicable.
Anyone who condones such actions needs to do some soul searching, if indeed they have a soul at all.
