The four people all were transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, said Jeff Mason, Townsend Township assistant volunteer fire chief.
A tracto-trailer involved in the accident crashed through a building at 2727 U.S. 20, just west of Hartland Center Road. The building received major damage.
“A car came into the intersection. The semi was heading westbound, tried to avoid the car, ended up hitting the car and traveling on into the building, through the building,” Mason said. “It seemed to be minor injuries. Everybody was transported except the truck driver.”
What about the building?
“It is structurally unsound at this time. The building owner is getting materials now to try to shore it up.”
There have been a number of accidents in the intersection, right across the street from the fire station.
“No. I really don’t know, I don’t understand it,” Mason said about the accident. “I think the gentleman just thought he could go and came into the intersection. It is clearly marked. I don’t know really why he went into the intersection.”
No further details were available from the Ohio State Highway Patrol at press time.
