´┐╝AMHERST TOWNSHIP — Three vehicles were involved in two separate accidents on Ohio 2 Thursday afternoon sending four people to the hospital.

A 2015 Chevrolet work van driven by 48-year-old Brian Bellan, of Lorain, hit the rear of a 2016 Ford Mustang driven by 50-year-old Irma Ruiz, of Vermilion, according to reports.

Moments after the first crash, a 2007 Dodge Durango hit the rear of the Chevrolet work van. The Durango was driven by Janmarie Miller, 36, of Castalia.

The accident occurred at about 4:15 p.m.

The Durango had four juvenile passengers and all four received incapacitating injuries. All four were flown by helicopter to Cleveland’s Metro’s main campus in Cleveland.

Bellan was transported to Lorain Mercy Hospital by Life Care with minor injuries. Ruiz was not transported and cleared at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
