Trooper promoted to sergeant

COLUMBUS —  A state trooper who has served at the Norwalk post has been promoted to sergeant.

Dustin Hamilton was promoted during a ceremony at the training academy for the state Highway Patrol. Col. Paul Pride, patrol superintendent, recognized Hamilton, who will transfer from his current assignment in Norwalk to serve as an assistant post commander at the Mansfield post.

Hamilton began his career in November 2012 as a member of the 154th academy class. He earned his commission in April of the following year and was assigned to the Milan post. He earned his bachelor of science degree in criminal justice in 2011 and a master of arts degree in criminal justice in 2014 from The University of Toledo. Hamilton has served in the U.S. Coast Guard since 2015.
