Woman dies after vehicles collide head-on

FREMONT – A two vehicle fatal crash occurred at 8:21p.m. Thursday on Township Road 55 east of Township Road 96 in Sandusky County’s Washington Township.

A 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Marissa K. Schroeder, 22, of Gibsonburg was traveling west on TR 55 when she traveled left of the center line, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol. Her vehicle collided with an eastbound 2013 Mazda SUV being driven by Constance J. Klausz, 63, of Fremont.

Schroeder’s vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway after the collision and struck a ditch. Mrs. Klausz’ vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned.

Schroeder sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

Philip Klausz Jr., 72, was a passenger in the other vehicle. Mr. and Mrs. Klausz were transported by Sandusky County EMS to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, where Mrs. Klausz was pronounced dead. Mr. Klausz sustained non-life threatening injuries.

All occupants were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department, Sandusky County EMS, Lindsey Fire Department, Life Flight, and Madison’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
